Alexander Wang first campaign as creative director for Balenciaga puts craft and details in focus portrayed in a cinematic scenery is by Steven Meisel, with Kristen McNemany starring anonymously. Although the facial expression is omitted in the photo, the imagery including the clenched fist channels plenty of emotion, “in contrast to the austerity bestowed in the show”, Alexander Wang told WWD. The ads will start running in a range of June magazines.

Online retailer Net-a-Porter today released an exclusive capsule collection by designer duo of Proenza Schouler, which marks their second collaboration of this kind after working with Target in 2007. Lots of time has passed by since then and Proenza Schouler has delivered an array of great items over the years, of which the bestselling ones from previous Resort collections were inspiration. The limited collection comprises 9 items including mini skirts, leather shorts, a twill jacket (above) among other pieces, all with distinct surfing references found in the aqua hues, tie-dye prints and of course the overall sporty beach appearance.

Nicolas Ghesquiére on why he left Balenciaga

Since Nicolas Ghesquiére shocking departure of Balenciaga in November, the reason why he left the house has been kept in the dark until he spoke out in the debut issue of System magazine, now out. The interview reveals the creative frustration Ghesquiére experienced at the house, the lack of business leadership and the confusion of merchandising. Although the departure happened very suddenly, the decision on the other hand seemed to have given much thought to, beginning particularly in the past two or three years when the questioning of his ambition became a real frustration. He hit a breaking point and did not have any choice but to leave. The possibilities are open, Ghesquiére says, and we are waiting with excitement to see what work he will go back to.

Vogue Italia May Issue

Since Vogue has focused more and more on celebrity instead of model, and commercial in contrast to high fashion, the covers have reflected just that. But lately there has been a feeling of reversion for the venerable magazine, and the May cover is a proof of that with it´s attitude and bold layout & colour choices. Both Edie Campbell and Karen Elson are wearing Ermanno Scervino, portrayed casually by Steven Meisel.

Vogue festival

Freshnet has a craze for fashion and festivals, so when mixing the two together it calls for perfection from our perspective. The Vogue festival in London includes workhops and panels where fashion related issues are discussed with some of the biggest names in the business. Among those were Victoria Beckham, Cara Delevigne, Anna dello Russo and David Gandy. One of the topics was that on body issues called ‘To fat to thin’, a theme always important in the fashion business.
